Digital Break Up

Refuge and Avast

One in four women in England and Wales will experience some kind of domestic abuse during their lifetime. Tech abuse is a growing aspect of this abuse, with abusive partners using technology to control, harass and intimidate. This website was developed to give women the tools they need to understand tech abuse and how to protect themselves from it. The website is designed with interactive tools and information to provide awareness of the various digital platforms a partner may be able to access, including; social media accounts, online banking, or location settings such as Uber. The tool gives the necessary knowledge to help secure digital platforms against abuse by current or ex-partners. This tool supports and empowers women to take control of their technology to ensure digital freedom and online safety.
