In England, autism diagnoses among adults are rising rapidly, with more children now reaching adulthood already diagnosed. At the same time, rates of mental illness are increasing, making autistic adults one of the fastest-growing groups within mental health services. This report aims to improve mental health care for autistic adults by helping staff build confidence and understanding in meeting their needs. It is intended to guide commissioners and professionals across all health settings, including primary and acute care, in delivering more inclusive and effective support.
