The Neurodivergence in Criminal Justice Network (NICJN) is a recently established group of key voices including researchers, practitioners and community members with an interest in challenges faced by neurodivergent people involved with the criminal justice system in England and Wales. Suspects, defendants, victims and witnesses all face challenges when dealing with the stressful, complex and highly structured nature of criminal proceedings, for neurodivergent individuals these challenges can be acute. The core aims of NICJN are to aid knowledge exchanges between different communities and as a platform for sharing work, literature, specialist knowledge, activities and voices. Long term goals include, embedding research into practice, raising awareness, promoting reform and advancing knowledge.
