
Self-Harm Events and Suicide Deaths Among Autistic Individuals in Ontario, Canada

This study looked at self-harm and suicide rates among autistic and nonautistic people in Ontario, Canada, and found that autistic individuals—especially females—were at higher risk. Autistic females had an 83% higher risk of self-harm and nearly double the risk of suicide compared to nonautistic females. The increased risk was largely linked to existing psychiatric diagnoses.
